Slipped into an RLBL suit that was just back from the cleaners and the pants, well they seemed to have turned a wee bit fashion forward for my tastes. As in too high. How did that happen as the last few times I wore the suit all seemed well?

I dropped them off today at my new cleaners (Digital on 6th and 26th - 2 other locations - awesome place if you're looking) and the top guy went through the possibilities with me. He first looked at the waist band and given the slight 'puckering' asked if they had been worn in the rain, which they had. He then said depending on the method that drycleaners used - and clearly implied the ones that had handled the suit had used an inferior method - excess moisture in the legs (even if they have dried out over the course of several days) followed by dry cleaning could result in slight shrinkage. In this case about 1/2".

I'd want to believe him as he's a lovely guy and really seems to know his stuff. The only other possibility I can think of is late onset gigantism and I don't really like the sound of that.

Does the above explanation sound likely? Any other theories?
