Picked up my first NSM commission yesterday and I think its a success.

My brother will have to wait for one more trip as they had made some serious errors in length on the last go. Mina was extremely apologetic about this - she went and purchased the fabric at her own expense and completely recut the jacket.

Very nice indeed. Could you post some photos detailing the interior of the coat? Thanks!

I wanted it to be a kind of hybrid between classic neapolitan and american style tailoring - two button cuffs, super soft shoulder, 3/2roll with side vents, a higher gorge and more open quarters. The set in patch ticket pocket is nice because its a great place to put glasses or a phone. I think next time I'll have Mina move it down more into the larger patch pocket so its not so prominent.

agree with moving the ticket pocket inside the main patch pocket.

Nice looking casual jacket, Nick. What's the material? It's got a bit of a retro vibe.

Thanks Parker. Its a Subalpino sale e pepe donegal tweed (don't remember the exact quality). I have a soft spot for Italian-made fabrics that look English.

Fun stuff! I like that style ticket pocket as well. On a linen sportcoat I have it goes about 1/2 inch up from the main pocket which it sounds like you'll be doing for a future commission. Love the fabric as well, but I'm a sucker for Donegal.

    +1

Casual jackets are sometimes so much more enjoyable to "design"... I like the playfulness of the details and the great texture of the fabric.

So much for my comments above on NSM's House Style. It looks fantastic. You seem to have achieved a very successful hybrid between
neapolitan and Ivy. I am especially impressed with, at least, the appearance of a looser-fitting, longer coat, than Mina
usually produces. Something that might actually work for me. Am I correct ?

Thanks. From what I've seen, the comments about Mina cutting everything too narrow are incorrect. My jacket is certainly more loose-ftting than I'm used to and that is something that Mina really fought me on (she wanted my jacket to have less of a waist, I wanted more).

As for length, that was a tough one. Mina really wanted my coat to be shorter but at just north of 6'3", I was determined to have this coat cover my behind. I think where we landed was a pretty good compromise although I may still have the jacket taken in slightly.

maybe a stupid question: can length be adjusted after the first fitting, or no?

I was told by Mina that she can do a fuller and longer cut,it is afterall, bespoke. So I would give her a try, especially given the fact that she travels to the West Coast.

I think this is very tough to do, unless the coat has plenty of allowance. I'd say that it has to be recut and new cloth must be used.
