I don't like it, but then again the area around the neck on that suit looks like it needs most of the attention.

Well, I like DBs because the prominent swath of overlapping lapel strengthens the chest and draws the eye up from the midsection, yet the problem with DBs is that the fronts aren't cutaway so it makes the hips conspicuous... I feel like medtech's basted jacket gets those cutaway, open quarters so its win-win: prominent chest with inconspicuous hips. I'm going to look into this for my next suit...

That overlap is for fitting purposes, the finished jacket does not have that overlap

I'm going to make this happen (sans the gold buttons and tail).

Your repository of relevant images in unequaled, do you know of any more semi-DBs?

I realize that, it has aesthetic merit nonetheless imho.

I've always heard this. In fact , in North By Northwest Cary Grant asks the porter on the train to Chicago,
The 20th Century Limited, no doubt, to do this with his suit. What does this mean? Sponge it with what?

    Thanks.

I am wrong. It was in the Hotel, not the train.

Its meaning is pretty literal - the suit is moistened with a sponge dampened with water, then pressed (i.e. ironed). Not a common service nowadays.
