Beautiful Fabrics and very well done. Are they all NSM and two button?
Is that a light colored canvas underneath?
It's only visible with flash photography. With ambient lighting you'd never see the canvas.
Anyway I prefer natural canvas to something home-dyed in Dylon black dye which will run during steam pressing or dry cleaning.
Has that happened before or is that just an assumption? If it did was it from a competent cleaner and they still did that?
I've never had a black canvas run but then again I don't get my stuff cleaned unless absolutely necessary and I always pay through the nose for a top cleaner.
My latest navy suit has black canvas. I am not sure why because it is like a 12oz twill. Canvas would never be seen through it.
this may sound funny, how do you clean your suits then? or do you have so many/they are worn so infrequently that they never get dirty.
I've had some suits for years that never got dry-cleaned. I just give them a dose of *wait for it* STEAM now and again. My suits never have any smells other than of just wool. I think that is what is great about wool, unlike cotton that is like a petri dish for smells.
I think you are overestimating the danger of black canvas just a little bit.
FWIW, I have white canvassing on both my fresco suits and have had no issues with it showing through.
But then again, I haven't been photographed in either so....
ah, ok. and what's about lido di jesolo?
Biggest issue when using darker loose weaves like fresco. I had to send mine back to WWC to get the canvas dyed. I've seen pics of Mariano R with some sort of navy hopsack jacket showing the shine of the underlying white canvas. Not a good thing
Yes you do. At first it looks like the cloth is shinier in some areas, then when looking closely it is the underlying white that reflects the light and gives that shine effect
Yep. I steam my jackets regularly (sorry jefferyd) and never had that issue either
Has anyone noted yet how this looks semi-double breasted ? I'm sure the overlap was taken away in the final stages, but I like how it looks as is- it sort of gets the best of both the single and double breasted worlds.
If you brush a suit regularly and sponge it occasionally, cleaning can be reserved for spills and stains.
