This has happened to me a couple of times. It always sucks. Be happy no clothes were ruined.

Yeah, that is a plus. Luckily it is nowhere near my bed/closet.

Dude, your apartment is not flooding. You have a leak. Take off the friggin skirt and do something about it. Cut some holes (lowest point, preferably over the tub) where the water is coming through so it doesnt just sit on top of the drywall or backerboard and create more damage. If you see black mold tell the staff to re-drywall the bathroom or you'll call the health department (painting over it doesnt count).

Handymen in most buildings are half marsupialed. The ceiling in my bedroom fell in twice on my nice sheets and ligne roset bed from water damage. After the idiot handyman "fixed" it. I went to the apt above me, explained the situation and they let me fix the damn thing once and for all.
