I just got my first pair of peccary gloves, and as I was pulling them out of their protective cellophane bag I was pleasantly surprised by how soft the leather felt. Unfortunately seconds later I was disappointed by how un-even the finish was.
Im talking about the dying\color rather then surface quality. After reaching out to the seller I was told by their customer care consultant that that was normal and indicative of their stock, the explanation was that :"Depending on what part of the hide is used, the dye is taken at various degrees. Our leather is not sanded, grain corrected, or anything."

I was curious to see what other peoples experience was with peccary gloves, especially in lighter colors in regards to finish, as I would really like to get a pair of yellow peccary gloves, but now hesitant to order online.

BTW, anyone familiar with these "bargain" (compared to Dents)(mine are not Dents) options: http://www.paularun.com/, or http://store.peccaryleather.com/.

I have never heard that, though it makes sense. All the peccary gloves that I have, however, and I have about half a dozen pairs, all have very uniform color.

Someone with more expertise would have to tell you if this is in fact something that some glovemakers do on purpose, or whether this is the result of poor or substandard hide choice, or making maximum use of a hide instead of using the best parts only.

Quote: Thank you for your reply, I am guessing its that they try to use most of the skin, which on one hand is good for the environment, also the price point wasn't too bad at 235USD.

Can you recommend some brands for peccary gloves?

Well, the most ubiquitous, and very good, brand, is Merola. Some of our affiliate vendors (www.nomanwalksalone.com, www.exquistetrimmings.com, www.hangerproject.com) all sell it, and that company makes a lot of private label as well.

For my hands, though, I really like Thomas Reimer (http://www.exquisitetrimmings.com/products/Designer/Thomas-Riemer/) and (https://leffot.com/shop/accessories/gloves.html).

In Florence, Madova is well known, and probably my favorite pair is from there: http://www.madova.com/ A nice deal at 100 Euros (or that is what it was the last few times I've been there). Their webstore is atrocious though.

I really like one of Causse's models, the "Rivoli", but that is about 2x the price of the other suggestions. http://www.causse-gantier.fr/boutique/en/famille.php?ID_gamme=2&ID_famille=22

I don't know where you are located, but I would recommend getting your gloves from a place you can try them on, if possible. For me, the part that is hardest to fit is my thumb!

Thank you so much for your reply, there are some really good options there! I knew of Medova before and I like their styling, their gloves look very elegant, too bad their online shop is so poor. My toughest part to fit is the little finger, its always too short for the glove.
