My new Loake Camden from Herring Shoes

I ordered a pair of tan calf Loake Camden from Herring Shoes a few days ago and they arrived today. Herring lists them as a discontinued shoe in the Loake Shoemaker range and sells them for 70 GBP. While the Loake Shoemaker range is lower in quality than their 1880 range, these shoes seem to have inherited many of the properties of the 1880 shoes: they have a full leather heel with a rubber insert, they are on the 026 last (which many of the 1880 shoes are), and the uppers are calf leather. They are not fully leather lined though, which the 1880s are.

Anyway, I'd thought I'd post a few pictures of the shoes for everyones enjoyment:

Sole and leather heel with rubber insert (the scuffs are from me walking around the apartement):

Notice that they have the "Design Loake" label, which is a little odd:

Markings on the inside of the shoe:

The Camden model does not appear on any of the on-line shoe stores selling Loake (other than Herring) nor on the Loake web site (I even checked a few years back with help from the Wayback machine). Does anyone have more information about this shoe?

Oh, and I can add that I am very pleased with them so far! A good shoe for a very good price.

Thank you! Yes the shoes look much better in person than they do on (the quite boring) the photo on Herrings website.

I suspect that they may have been a special order made by Loake for another retailer. This may explain the overall fairly high, if slightly idiosyncratic, specification. I have seen the same speculations made with regard to the "Twyning" and "Tiverton" models, both of which have been identified as possible Charles Tyrwhitt models. Of course, Loake also make many (if not now all, since the range has, I understand, expanded) of Herring shoes' own brand offerings, so it could be from the latter.

Anthony.

They do look quite similar to this Herring-branded shoe (although the Herring-branded shoe looks quite a bit stubbier). Maybe the Loake Camden is an earlier incarnation of that one.

The lining is very cool, I was pleasantly suprised to see it as I opened the box

It is leather with printed flowers.
