I ordered a pair of tan calf Loake Camden from Herring Shoes a few days ago and they arrived today. Herring lists them as a discontinued shoe in the Loake Shoemaker range and sells them for 70 GBP. While the Loake Shoemaker range is lower in quality than their 1880 range, these shoes seem to have inherited many of the properties of the 1880 shoes: they have a full leather heel with a rubber insert, they are on the 026 last (which many of the 1880 shoes are), and the uppers are calf leather. They are not fully leather lined though, which the 1880s are.
Anyway, I'd thought I'd post a few pictures of the shoes for everyones enjoyment:
Sole and leather heel with rubber insert (the scuffs are from me walking around the apartement):
Notice that they have the "Design Loake" label, which is a little odd:
Markings on the inside of the shoe:
The Camden model does not appear on any of the on-line shoe stores selling Loake (other than Herring) nor on the Loake web site (I even checked a few years back with help from the Wayback machine). Does anyone have more information about this shoe?
Oh, and I can add that I am very pleased with them so far! A good shoe for a very good price.
