Just got a new coat. It's an Orvis shearling. It is so soft, and comfortable, but has a rugged look to it. Brass zippers, horn buttons. I can't wait for it to start getting cold enough to wear it. I don't think I've ever been this in love with any piece of outerwear since 1985 when I bought my first Goretex jacket.

Very pretty. I'm in love with a similar Armani coat, but I don't think the wife's gonna let me part with the $2,700 to make it mine.

I usually hate shearlings but that looks really nice. Details? Price, fit, comments?

Looks like a beaut!

A good quality shearling jacket is a staple item in the wardrobe.

The style comes and go but is a classic.

That's a great looking coat. I know how you feel; there are a few coats I'm looking forward to wearing this winter!

It looks comfortable and cozy in a good way. Get a cool scarf and you will look great.

Definitely roomy:

I am normally a 46. Bought a 46, and had to return it because it was too big.

44 is about right. Not too big all by itself, with enough extra room to layer a thinnish sweater under it if needed.

Is it heavy? Stiff?

Kind of heavy, not at all stiff. Soft and supple.
