Does having that as a sticking point make me a nerd?

Some, possibly all, of the events take place before Kirk becomes a starship captain with an alien girl in every port.

It looks like it's going to be pretty entertaining, but what will be even better is watching the fanboys freak out over every minute inaccuracy. "That's completely wrong! Kirk wore blue socks!" "That's not how phaser technology works!" "How come we don't have girlfriends?"

Like the harry potter films, but in a much scarier way.

That's good because historical accuracy is really important for made up ****.

I hope this movie rocks!

No, that is the only Star Trek series that I watched every show of. Only demonstrates again that I am not a true believer. Shame on me.

Oh, I was not aware. It makes sense then.

They've already broken historical accuracy. Menagerie always left the impression that Kirk didn't really know about Spock's prior service with Pike, and especially Spock's personal loyalty to him.

I don't mind that they're changing it, just showing off my ultimate dweeb-dom.

Great, just great, is that Spock I see? I guess they didn't bother to research and see that Kirk and Spock never met in the academy. Lameeee

Shatner and Nimoy wanted nothing to do with this film. I don't either. This is spitting in Roddenberry 's face.
