My Luxire Experience

Placed an order for a $35 test shirt. "We guarantee your best fit. Will remake your first order for free* Luxire guarantees that each aspect of your order will be made exactly as you order. Our specialists will work with you, review fit images and make sure you are happy."

July 27th
Received a shirt which fit relatively well except for the sleeves, which are far too thin. You cannot fit 7 inch cuffs over 7 inch wrists, and Luxire apparently doesn't understand this. The site clearly says "Measure your body". And I even added a little to my skinny arms so I wouldn't have this problem.

July 30th
Started conversations with Luxire about how to remedy the problem. Instead of the remake I was promised, I got "We would be glad to replace the sleeve for you but it will cost you more for the both ways shipping. But, if you place a new order instead of sending the shirt for alteration, will offer you a $10 gift card. ". I should have asked why they wanted the old, obviously not fixable, shirt back. I should have asked why they thought shipping a shirt 2 ways would be more than $35. But I agreed and tried to work with them.

Among alterations, they suggested "Increase sleeve length by 0.25". When I sent them a picture with the sleeves unbuttoned saying they were if anything already too long, I got back "We never felt that the sleeves are too short but yes slightly shorter". I also asked how to "Increase back shoulder slope by 0.38" which is not a measurement on their site. This went unanswered.

November 17th
Got fed up with unanswered and unhelpful support, and decided to try a reorder rather than giving up. Paid $55, since their prices went up, believing $10 would be taken off after placing the order.

November 26th
I expected to see $10 deducted from my credit card transaction and did not. I had not heard anything regarding the order from Luxire. I was even more frustrated to see 15% off now offered on their site as a Black Friday special. I asked if my order could be cancelled.

November 29th
Received an e-mail that my order has shipped. Never received a response to my question about whether I could cancel the order. Now I am $90 and 6 months into designing a "Test Shirt" I have zero confidence will fit. To add insult to injury, they are shipping me a $10 gift card (presumably only good at Luxire).

I believe in "buyer beware" and I fully admit blame for choosing to work with Luxire. But part of the choice was based on the mostly positive feedback on this forum, so I wanted to post this to help others avoid this mistake.

Hint: The frequent posters on an affiliate thread are the fanboys. I'm not sure if they have a financial incentive behind their enthusiasm. In any case, not the most unbiased group.

I've purchased four shirts with Luxire and had a good experience. Their support was timely and helpful. Interestingly enough, they also recommended adjusting the shoulder slope; I wonder if that's some strange "recommendation for the sake of making a recommendation" thing they do.

What happened in August, September, and October? They never answered you during that three-month stretch?

Over the last 3-4 years, I've ordered about 10 shirts from them. In my experience, I found their work quality and material to be good for the price. Their communication however has a lot to improve. In some cases they take a very long time to respond. For example, I've recently placed an order on Apr 6. It's almost been a month and I still don't have a tracking number. I've reached out 3 times to check on its status. Each time it take multiple days for them to respond. The last one I received was 3 days ago saying my shirt is under quality check and expect to send it out in 2-3 days. They've clearly broken their promise on this one.

I also don't think they do well when you measure your body. In my case, the shirts they sent me were way to loose in almost every aspect. I suspect they received feedback about that and has since gone the other way (ie. too tight). However, I have to say that's kinda the risk you are taking in ordering a M2M online. That's why I now strictly use shirt measurements when I order.

I find them inconsistent on their fit. I was lured in by their cheap prices but realized I've spent more on shirts that don't fit than ones that do. Hindsight is 20/20, I should've gone for bespoke or in-person MTM than spending all that money refining a fit on an online-MTM.
