I actually gave away some Aldens to make room. Great, great shoes, and very comfortable, but the ones I had were a little too round and stubby for me.

Wow, I just read that post. That guy makes me feel like I have no shoes at all. Don't know whether to feel better or worse about that.

    Pics or it didn't happen.

Seriously though, that's a lot of shoes. Jealous.

Yeah, I wouldn't question the money you spent - I, and I suspect quite a few others, have been on similar benders.

I would say that you coulda gone with more quality over quantity. I'd take a pair of the more superlative EG or Lobbs, even at full retail, over 3 CJs or 5 AEs

I thought I was going overboard with three pairs of AEs in two weeks. Any and all guilt has subsided, but jealousy has taken its place.

Yeah, good point. I did try throughout the entire episode of madness--very hard--to find the right EGs and Lobbs at anything approaching a reasonable price, but wasn't able to. Still can't (not that I could afford them now.)

On the other hand, I got extraordinary deals on most of these. For example, I got all but one of the C&Js in a single purchase for about the retail price of one pair of good EGs. I posted here about the incredible deal I got on the Vass Old English and the two pairs of GG. More importantly, I'd put the Vass and G&Gs I got right up there with--or at least very close to--EG & Lobb. I also filled every color/style hole in my shoedrobe. (Sometimes more than once.)

It was really a case of a little money (and a lot of tequila) in hand and striking an unusual series of great deals. But, yes, even now I'd probably trade all the Allen Edmonds for exactly the right pair of EGs.

You're either a liar or someone with a serious psychological problem. If the latter, you should a) stop posting (or even visiting) this site, and b) seek professional help.
If he said he had bought these shoes with his mortgage money, your post would be justified. He didn't, so piss off.

I agree with this for the most part - but you NEED beaters. I'm not about to wear $800+ shoes when I'm going out to party. Some drunk idiot (possibly yourself) is going to ruin all your shit.

Case in point - wore a Chester Barrie diffusion line button down and H&M sportcoat on New Year's eve, fell down and got mud all over myself, threw shirt away the next day. With a Finamore or RLPL, I may have cried.

Similar stories for rainy weather, etc (sure, I have some Tingley's, but I don't put them on when going to lunch), I'd rather not step foot outside at all in mildly wet weather in really nice shoes.
