I have had one moderate success on Ebay (along with one bad purchase), but I just had my first real consignment store successful purchase. I don't think I would have taken the dive had it not been for this board.

I got a bluish-gray with white/gray pinstripe Kilgour, French, and Stansbury (originally from Barney's NY) for $50. The suit was in immaculate condition -- I haven't found any flaws other than a loose stitch holding the lining into the jacket, which I was able to fix myself. Best part -- it fit me to a T. Even the waist and inseam on the pants was perfect. Indeed, it was the exact suit I was looking for. I'm guessing it is a year old and was part of someone's semi-regular suit rotation.

The best part was that I had seen it in this consignment store (it's a higher end one) a few weeks before, but the price tag said $205. When I went in today, the price tag had fallen off. I took it to this young guy working at the store (clearly had no clue about suits), and asked him how much it was. He looked at the KFS label (which meant nothing to him), and said "well, most of our suits are $50, so it's $50." What a steal. Now, KFS isn't Kiton or anything, but I've gotta say I'm impressed with the tailoring. The lapels have extensive pad-stitching, the drape is excellent, and the fabric is soft and luxurious.

So, now I've gotta decide what to do with the money I saved. (I had needed to purchase a suit such as this, and still need to purchase at least one more.)

How about some nice new shirts and ties to accompany your suit?

Is the label sewn on the lining, or inside the pocket??
