Someone earlier inquired if he uses Danite Soles. His e-mail response to me was YES
He did not respond if he has access to Crepe soles
He charges a 10 pound premium for double leather soles
He charges a 10 pound premium for metal toe caps
He doesn't use Cordovan horse leather
His balmoral boot price of 290 pounds does not include shipping and there is a 30 pound price premium for a pattern change.

He claims to have access to a last shape which is similar to Edward Green's 888...although he was specific to note he doesn't call his the 888. Notes his version is a slight bit roomier in the toe box

Based on the only boot I have seen and his comments on having lasts similar to the 888 and 202...my guess is that he possibly has previously worked at the Edward Green factory

This is all very good news.

Mr. Clifford Roberts noted he has previously made shoes and sold them on ebay. He has no storefront. He claims his ebay username was charlesdaniel.

Does anyone have a link or additional pictures of shoes/boots he's sold over ebay so that I can get a better idea of whether we will work together on a future collaboration.

The shoes are fully hand welted. I think that is something neither Loake nor Lobb features.

I think John Lobb St. James shoes offer hand welting.

The other lines of John Lobb and Loake shoes do not offer hand welting.

still awesome, especially if he can go to work on some 888s

Yeah. There are bots that crawl forums looking for email addresses. You guys should remove it.

Cliff surprised me with a free pair of shoes in a very original design. [IMG]
I think they will be great for the summer.

Cool! How did you score that? Was it his way of saying thanks for all the referrals (his mailbox must have flooded)?

Mr. Roberts latest Balmoral shoe is quite elegant and is further kindling my interest in his products

I look forward to seeing his future offerings using a squared last (similar to EG's 888)

Would be nice to see a pic of his lasted shoe trees. Does anyone know if he makes them himself or does he farm it out to a company in Northampton which does this?
