My adventures in (DIY) shoemaking -- part 12

Here is my most recent shoemaking effort. This is a pair of 3-eyelet derbies in a reddish-brown calfskin. The toe is a soft chisel, and the outsole is hand stitched at 11 stitches per inch.

The waist is a square, non-beveled finish, and the welt/sole is a bit thicker than is typical for most bespoke shoes -- 5/16" vs a typical 1/4". I thought that since this is a less dressy design, a thicker sole might look nice.

All things considered, I am happy with the way this pair has turned out.

That is amazing. Sewing or knitting is something I could imagine trying at some point. Shoemaking is so beyond my imagination. Who would think there were amateur cobblers?
