Headed out on vacation to Miami for a few days this weekend. I am staying in South Beach but will have a car.

So aside from the fun and sun I was wondering if anyone could recommend Museum/Galleries or other not to be missed points of interest?

Not my first time down there but I have mainly just been for the beach and/or work and without much spare time.

Miami Art Museum (MAM) just over the bridge from South Beach is alright, felt like there could have been better places if I'd had more time to find them. That part of downtown was full of shady looking transients though, so I'd drive if you can.

There's an art deco museum/tour which looks pretty good, not had a chance to do it yet though.

While we're on the subject of Miami, is there more to the city than the glitzy South Beach and then sprawling miles of ghetto? I spent a weekend there and despite my best efforts, there didn't seem to be much out there once you got over the bridge...

Depends on what you want to do. As a former resident I believe it to be the most beautiful overall city I've ever been to, bar none; not only because of the architecture and beautiful weather but also the mix of cultures and beautiful women in bikinis year round. I would check out Little Havana if you haven't already, some neat things to be seen around there.
