I have used Renovateur on museum calf and haven't had any problems. I do follow what the jar says, just leave it on 3 minutes and then buff/brush away. Having said that, I use for general conditioning purposes Bick4. Renovateur, as the name suggest is to "renovate" so, unless I have some seriously damaged shoes or bought some second hand ones, I will use Renovateur.
Gracias!
Yeah there are some horror stories regarding renovateur but most involve crust leather.

Ahmmm... I think pics seeing the whole shoe would help more and the color of the shoes. If they are black musuem, I would say, yeap, normal.

Thanks a lot. They're black museum and that's a closeup of the worst spots.

I've never seen that before. Just seems odd to put white spots on a black formal shoe. Not that big of a deal when they're on, but still.

Anybody wear black museum on this threak who cares to comment?

I'll have to check my black museum from John Lobb but I don't remember the museum effect being that noticeable on my black calf. I've seen that more on my dark brown.

Thanks, Texas. If you have the time to post comparison photos, I'll post pictures of my Tricker's.

One of my JL RTW shoes in dark brown museum. You can see how the some of the museum effect is similar to your black museum. It’s like this all over the shoes. My other museum calf shoes are more uniform.

@Texasmade -- Thanks for the pics. The Trickers mottling is much more pronounced. Looks like
somebody took whiteout to it. Not something you really notice when they're on, but shoes as art these are not:
