Mulholland vs. Filson

I'm considering a new substitute for my Tumi rolling carry-on suitcase. The bags I'm seriously considering are the Filson carry-on bag and the Mulholland Shorthorn or Longhorn in lariat leather, the latter being much more expensive of course.

Any thoughts on the quality of Filson products vs. Mulholland products generally, or on these specific products?

Thanks for your help.

Not direct experience but Mulhollands Lariat leather really wears both well and badly depending on what you want the bag to look like in 10 years time. If you scratch it, the lines show up. You only have to take it on one flight to really give it that scratched and worn look. I know someone who bought a anglers bag in lariat and he said it was great for a while but once really worn, it looked shoddy. Great if you are a university lecturer or similar but the battered "i need a new bag" look appeared quite quickly with lariat.

If you are looking for a bag that will wear well but won't look like a hobo's bag in 15 years time, I wouldn't go with Lariat.

I've had Filson bags (Pullman, suitbag, and smaller) and Mulholland suit carrier and wheeled suitcase. The Filsons are less elegant, but, for me, have held up better. The Mulhollands seem well made, though.
