Beautiful fabric, lovely suit.

On another subject, one of the strange things about Paris is the relative absence of local reasonably-priced tailors like those you fellows use. I can think of one or two trendy MTM places in town, but nowhere where I could show up with a roll of say, Fox Bros flannel, and order a moderately conservative suit. The bespoke tailors here are incredibly expensive.

I disagree. I wore the Ivy look for decades.
Even now what I wear is Ivy-derived.
I do not think that my clothes are stiff/bland.
In fact they are somewhat relaxed ( drape)
and with texture. The Rizzo example looks
like it might have been made for a security guard
out of a "modern" fabric.

I've also used Rizzo in Cambridge for full bespoke as he's one of my alteration tailors. Not exactly a modern style (think Brioni), prices start around $1,800 for a 2-piece suit in basic fabrics. He cuts the pattern and sews it all himself, think he outsources the pants but does everything else himself.

It really depends on what style your looking for but RL or Brooks MTM can have great results in your price range. Edit - Paul Stuart might be another option if you travel to NYC often?

Not everyone fits perfectly into RTW - Bris!

I asked 9tailors:

"Could you tell me anything about the construction of your suits? Are they fused, half-canvassed, or fully canvassed?"

reply was:

"suits are all cut by hand (not by machine). The jackets are canvassed."

I'm right over in Beacon Hill. Maybe I should check this place out for the Boston sf members.

I'm not buying it (literally and figuratively).
Bris, nice suit. You have an intersting definition of full retail.

The suit I'm wearing in last week's plaid contest is a RL Polo made in Italy I got NWT for $200 off of savilerow78 on Ebay. It was the last suit I've ever seen them list without a minimum bid but they shipped it immediately without a whimper.
