Hello,

I’m thinking about getting 12 shirts from this shirt maker to wear to work(typically under a sportscoat). This is our second attempt at getting the shirt proportions right. I already washed/dried the shirt 3 times

Should I go ahead and order the 12 shirts or is there any modification you guys would recommend?

A bit nit-picky but the sleeves appear to be just a little long, especially if you're already on wash 3+. They should end right at or a little above the thumb-fore finger V and yours appear to droop below. It's hard to tell from photos but I'd just confirm you have the right cuff size as well; can't tell if they're too big or just right from the photos (also partly personal preference).

It looks like there are darts already but I'd still venture to say the back is still not super clean, but that can certainly be a limitation of MTM versus bespoke. However, if you're normally wearing a coat over the shirt I wouldn't fret too much as the back won't be visible.

The chest/shoulders look really clean so no tweaks there!

thanks for your help!

So we are talking about a ~1 cm adjustment for the sleeve length? what guideline for cuff size do you recommend?

I think the back doesn't look clean, but if i take too much in at the waist then it'd be a little bit uncomfortable when I sit, and also if I gain any weight...

1cm should be good; possibly 1.5 but I really can't tell from the photos how much that will bring it up. That reduced length will clean up your sleeves from the bunching you see.

For cuff size it's a personal preference but I've found that you don't want it any larger than around 4.5-5cm from your bare wrist measurement. Personally I find 5cm a little too much and most of my shirts hit that ~4.5cm guideline (for example wrists are 16cm; shirt cuff would be 20.5cm). I want to clarify this is the button measurement (center of button to end of buttonhole) not the full size of the cuff.

Makes me wonder what exactly was the benefit of made to measure in this instance?

A) Immediately go out and purchase an iron.
B) Iron shirt.
C) Retake pics.
D) Retake some pics of the shirt under a sports coat.
E) Repost pics.

Possibly cheapest option + time savings + customization.

1) I am 5’5” 140 lbs, it’s almost impossible to find something RTW that fits.

2) I live in DC. Tailors are expensive and it takes additional time buying RTW and then having to deal with a tailor. If I get correct size in MTM I can just keep ordering shirts with the same measurement.

3) I want some OCBD’s. But I want some to have a French placket. Also, I don’t want my shirts to have pockets (I’m small and shirts with pockets look big)

Doesn’t look bad to me. It might be a little snug in the chest and I’d ask whether the darts could be made a little deeper to take up some of the excess cloth at the small of your back. And yes, if this has been washed a few times then the sleeves could be made a bit shorter for the next shirt, maybe a half inch.

Shirt fit overall is actually good, but shirt should be perfectly fitting by the second run as a made to measure shirt. The body length seems a little long, but this is determined by your personal preference. Sleeves could also do with tidying up. The need to have the right balance of not showing too much of your wrist when your arms are drawn and flashing a 1cm at least, outside the cuff of your jacket. I wouldn't rush to place a bulk order just yet.
