Herringbone 4x1 with fishmouth lapels?

Or POW check?

Or do I get a suit made from which the jacket can be separated and worn with odd trousers (as Prince Charles is known to do).

I'd do this. Neither of the patterns you have highlighted are terrifically versatile, thus make them more so by the option of suiting.

Thanks for the advice. I'm guessing a herringbone suit is going to look a bit "strong" because of the pattern.

I think I'll go for a grey flannel (flannel jacket would work nice with jeans IMHO) or POW check suit, and I'll decide on the day when I look at the fabrics available.
