Black chambray with white stitching, much like the BOO shirt that is white with black stitching.

    That would be godlike.

My vote is cigarette pockets, curved yoke, curved cuff, inside chest pocket, collar tab, both selvage accents, fisheye buttons, double contrast stitching.

that sounds perfect. i really like the red and would like to see a green as well.

    Sounds good to me.

Though if I was to be picky, my preference would go toward double barrel cuffs and no colar tab.

i'd be in for a blue-green or salt&pepper coloured chambray. How about wooden buttons (or at least the top collar button in wood)?

I just heard back from Nathan and he has a blue-green chambray. It's not selvage, though. Keep the color suggestions coming and I'll send a list to him in a few days. I've asked him to send me a photo sample of colors to help us decide. From what I understand from him, if we settle on one design, you can have your choice of color as long as it's available. I will verify this... In the meantime, since some of you are casting your votes for the design on here, I'll put the design poll up today. Stay tuned...
My vote is cigarette pockets, curved yoke, curved cuff, inside chest pocket, collar tab, both selvage accents, fisheye buttons, double contrast stitching.
That's pretty much my preference as well, although I am up for different pockets. We'll see what the poll results show!

There is also this cigarette pocket, which is from a different era (can't remember which offhand): [IMG] Another potential yoke is the shaped yoke: [IMG] [IMG] Also, we can think about ventilation holes, as shown in the yoke above. I'll add all of this to the OP and put them in the design poll.

Count me in on this project... Nice work, Zissou, on getting this thing organized!

I second everyone's suggestions of red, green and possibly salt and pepper options. In my opinion though, super-black, and all white do not work very well as a chambray because it's the subtle imperfections in the fabric, slubbiness, and contrast between warp/weft which give the fabric its charm. All of that would be nearly imperceptible with black or white.

Frankly though, I hope blue is an option as well (either blue-green or a slightly darker indigo). Yes, every brand out there makes a blue chambray... but for those of us who are 6'2" or taller, and/or with a muscular build, it's near impossible to find one which fits well. Most of the Japanese brands only make up to size 42 or 44 chest. Even if I can find a 46, it's usually too tight in the shoulders, and/or the arms are too short. Thus, MTM is the only option for a blue chambray that fits as I'd like it.

Apart from colour... I like the idea for chin-strap, selvedge gussets/accents, asymmetrical pockets (more workwear than navy-style), and triple-stitching around high-stress seams (shoulders, yoke, etc.). Thread colour seems like an option which would be very easy to leave up to the buyer... although it sounds like most of the other details would probably have to be standard.

All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing how this project develops...

I'm in the exact same boat as you, so I know how you feel. There should definitely be a couple of indigo options.

I also agree with an indigo version. As dark as we can find for great fading potential. And thanks Zissou for doing this.

^You mean like on a western shirt? If so, no, this is not going to be a western shirt.

I'll see what I can find, Lance...

I really like the color the Mister Freedom shirt cuff is, some sort of dark gray?

It's indigo Sugar Cane denim (seriously my favorite shirt of all time). Dark grey chambray will likely be an option for this shirt...

16 votes so far! I hope this means there will be at least 16 shirts ordered.
