There used to be a whole cottage industry around this in the UK. Some of the shops had online webstores. For some reason, many of them have closed.

Off the top of my head, some that still offer this service:

For Fair Isle:

For plain Shetlands:

For guernseys:

For finer Italian designs

I’ve been fighting this battle forever and I think Derek’s got pretty much all of them that I’ve come across.

N Peal, Loro Piana, Hawico, and Luca Faloni will also do MTM cashmere. For all of those you need to be in a physical retail location, which can be not ideal if you aren’t in London or NYC, basically. Loro Piana is very expensive but the others are pretty reasonable (no upcharge or minimum for N Peal; small upcharge and 2 sweater minimum from Faloni).

I have tried reaching out to other Scottish knitwear manufacturers (Lockie, Odie, Harley, Johnston’s, ESK) about custom lengths but they tend to not respond to inquiries.

Besides that, I think you’d have good luck reaching out to Anderson & Sheppard and the other Savile Row houses.

What do you need bespoke for? You might have other options depending on what the problem is.

I've ordered Hawico MTM remotely, they were quite good, sent me some swatches, was able to nail the fit on first order (its not nearly as hard as tailoring). Funny enough was just thinking about putting in another order. I don't remember exactly but wasn't too bad of an upcharge, much better value than Piana/Zegna imho. I've used Anderson and Co out of Shetland as well.

Curious: how did the fitting process go with Hawico? And what was the total per sweater?
Also how did you get in touch with them?

I find sweaters always look ridiculous on me.

Tailoring considerations: long legs, short torso, long arms, low right shoulder.

Have always thought bespoke might be the only option for a semi-decent fit, but interested to hear your thoughts to any alternatives...

Saman Amel, I believe.

I wish I could find a re-knitter to alter heavy hand knits.

I ordered based upon chest size, then added few inches to body + arms based upon their measurements and some sweaters I had that did fit. Looked it up, I paid 360£ for cashmere including 10% surcharge mtm. I believe it was their flagship store in Scotland I emailed to start process

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm looking to have made a quarter-zip sweater in certain colors if that's possible. I Usually a large fits good but a bit tight and a x-large just big all the way around.

You can always adjust a knit by blocking it.

Eh... I need about 2 inches off the sleeve and body lengths on a standard men's XS. Blocking won't work for that, though I imagine it might fix OP's problems.

It doesn't fix the colors I'm looking for though.
