I've tried a few searches and can't seem to find a thread about MTailor, which I thought was surprising. Looks like the company launched less than a year ago though. I recently stumbled on to their app and gave it a try (you use your phone to film a short video, which their software analyzes to get measurements). Got my first shirt last week and was impressed. The fit was nice and it was super comfortable. Fabric quality was good too.

Ordering through the app is a pleasure. Much quicker and more user friendly than moderntailor, for example. I have already ordered my second shirt, so we'll see if they're consistent. If so, I can see myself getting a lot of shirts from them.

Anyone else out there tried MTailor yet?

    Ok, I bit. Thoughts:

I'm skeptical about a camera pic being "20% more accurate than a tailor". Like everything else, tailors range from crappy to excellent; I doubt it's 20% more accurate than my tailor (or my measurements). I understand the pitch for the 99% of people out there for whom it really means "you've never been to a tailor and won't go, we can get measurements a heck of a lot better than what you're buying off the rack and make it a click away". I can see that as compelling for a big market.

But, for me (and a lot of experienced SFers), we're more interested in their cloth selection and the customizations they offer. Since their website is nothing more than "get the app", I'm not going any farther.

In other words, I see the niche they are going after and wish them luck, but I'm not their target.

I was skeptical too, but curious, so I gave it a try. Shipping is free and they offer to remake your shirt for free if you don't like it, so I figured I didn't have much too lose. You can see fabrics and customization options once you download the app, which takes two seconds. They're clearly trying to steer people towards the app (their focus is on a mobile based user experience, not web based).

I get it; but I want to browse on a real screen, not on a phone. Especially since I'm more interested in their fabrics - since I know I've got my measurements/fit settled - i'm uninterested in evaluating them on my phone/device.

I'll also add, in case they are listening, I'm using a windows phone which they don't have an app for anyway. Like I said, I don't think I'm their target, so I'll let it go at that. I suspect that for those they are targeting, if they really can get fair quality/price mtm shirts down to "take photo, pick fabric, select options = done" they should go gangbusters.

Fair enough. You can browse on iPad too though, I think that counts as a "real screen" :)

Anyway, I don't work there! Just a fan based on my first experience. And I agree, they could really take off. The ordering process after you've submitted your video is super smooth.

This only works to attract customers (who have no clue about their measurements) initally, after that consistency, fabric selection and quality and customer service will become infinitely more important and I doubt they can beat propercloth at that. Anyway, I'll be interested to see how they fare.

I ordered a shirt from them with skepticism about the measuring method. I was sure my measurements would be waaay off as i don't have an average body type, and sure enough when i received the shirt it was a disaster. The system couldn't account for the significant drop from my chest to stomach to waist-52/46/41. I can't lie, their customer service is excellent, I contacted them about the issue and a much better fitting shirt was made and sent to me. The guy even told me to gift the first shirt to someone. After receiving the second shirt i'm certain i will use them again.

Two shirts I ordered from them arrived and the fit was acceptable. But not overly impressed with non-ironability.
