I'm sort of frightened to say so, but Manton's pocket square is sort of sadly hiding deep in his pocket. I am afraid to point this out, because I don't want Manton to like beat me about the head and neck with the rulebook, which I ignore (more out of budget constraints than ignorance) Other than that, he looks very well put together. He looks nothing like I imagined him to look, however, and I think some plastic surgery to more closely resemble Machiavelli is in order.

Congrats on the article Manton!

Big poofy prominent pocket squares are against the rules. Didn't you know that?

I have practiced for years at imitating Nick's evil smile, but have never been able to get it right.

I agree for the most part, which is why I prefer a square fold. Much less obtrusive. BUT on the occasion that I pimp out with a pointed fold, It just looks weird to have so little of the pocket square showing. If its against the rules, just call me a rebel.

There is also something about where his eyes are pointing that is just as unsettling as his smile.

I wonder if, in 600 years, someone on styleforum will have Manton as their avatar.

No, in 600 years a tribal religion will have sprung up in the nuclear wasteland left over after WW3, a horribly disfigured race of mutants dressed nattily in polyurethane clothing will worship at the alter. They will worship the Man-Ton. They will read from his book of rules without fully understanding it. Charlton Heston will be there.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
