Keep your hands off my local Congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee:

I know you have interest in her, and she can probably belt out a decent show tune

Is it through the Glenn school? Congratulations either way.

DC is a lame town as far as big cities go (****** food, expensive, small) but it must be 10x better than Ohio state. Feel free to organize an SF meetup, I will be there.

All of my friends in D.C. seem to love the city/metro area. ****** food, really? In what context?

I have met no one worthwhile who has ever agreed with your statement.

Me either. I spend a lot of time there, and look forward to every visit.

Depends on your food tastes, I guess. But that has not been my experience.

That said, I'm generally there for short-term visits; I have never lived there, which obviously would be a different experience.

Conne, congrats and good luck.

DC food is nothing to write home about, if your home is NYC. But, overall, I find there's a huge diversity of foods available. Obviously, you can't have fresh homemade Mexican food delivered to your door at 4am, like you could if you lived in NYC, but the same type of food is available if you know where to look. A typical meal is more expensive than NYC, but not by much. There is no street food to be had, either. That said, I think the food scene in DC is improving day-by-day. There is a ton of new restaurants opening up on the 14th St. corridor, near U St. And if DC bores you, NoVA is but a few minutes away, and there's a lot of good ethnic food to be had there as well. See here for a list of good places to eat: http://www.tylercowensethnicdiningguide.com. P.S. DC does have Panera, which is all Conne really needs.

You're saying it's not [at least] 10 times better than Ohio State? While I live here and rip on it all the time, I resent this.

DC food scene is OK. Not nearly as inventive as NY, and there's plenty of me-too-ism, but plenty of good food and prices generally seem lower to me than NY.

Conne should join Late Night Shots: it seems perfect for him.

We should start a pool on how long it takes before Conne wakes up in Douglas' gravel driveway without his pants on.

Why do people always insist on comparing every city to NYC, then (surprise, surprise) find that NYC is better. Obviously NYC is going to have more diversity/options than every other city in America.

I've only been to DC a handful of times, so I can't comment on the particular food scene.

Edit: Congrats Conne!
