it seems like you're new to bespoke. no matter how much 'due diligence' you do by reading numerous threads, you don't get it until you actually go get the bespoke item commissioned and learn by wearing and chaging fashion tastes - its very much a heuristic process.

So as many people have said- go SLOW! don't order 3 suits at once.. or else its a very costly process when your hated suits never see the light of day. It takes a few times to get it right.

Shoes for US$200 you can get bespoke at Zee's Leatherwear. Koo Hee is much 'better' but costs accordingly higher.

Suits- i guess warddrobe staples are a good start: plain charcoal, plain navy, pinstripe navy.

Shirts- Jantzen at USD50 per pop, good value. Fabric selection, workmanship (get measured properly and specify specify specify! ) are the singly most important criteria

Glim is right, but it also appears that the OP has in fact already spent one year in HK before the thread was bumped up.

Plenty of places to get great stuff from in HK. Plus you can hop over to China and get some seriousy cheap MTM. Just out of curiosity, what will you being doing there? Jealous

Suits You Sir! So sorry for your loss. Actually it is the entire world's loss. She sounds like a wonderful and special person.

For the OP Realize that the people there are (still) tiny compared to average Americans and most westerners. This fact will be reflected in the clothes at most of the shops. Then again, kids are getting taller there.

Best of luck.

I personally think you should buy here. The average HK man is very small and thin.

OP, you're right to expect HK to be a bit more expensive on RTW, though the advantage is that, as long as you don't live in NYC, you'll see a lot of brands that are oft talked about but you rarely, if ever, can find where you live now in HK.

Why is it MTM and not bespoke? Is it just stereotyping the fact that its cheap and sometimes of questionable quality? Is it because they typically aren't hand made, fully canvassed? Of the tailors I've gone to on the mainland, almost all offer what I thought to be "bespoke" (ie there's no limit on how much you can customize the suit).
