Unfortunately I have to brave the brutal heat of DFW this Summer on business. I'm moving from New England so I'll probably have to buy a whole new wardrobe to deal with the heat. My work is very casual so I will need very little formal stuff.

If you were moving to Dallas for the Summer and had to refresh your wardrobe what would you buy?

Dallas is a great city, and you'll probably enjoy it when you are there! There is a huge nightlife scene, but you have to know where to go, since everything is so spread out. The style is preppy casual, and that's so easy to do in a hot climate. I would go for some nice short-sleeved dress shirts (yes, they wear them there), longer shorts, and very light khakis. You could even get away with some nice leather slip ons or sandals, probably. And even if you aren't a hat guy, you'll want a baseball hat to keep on standby, because hats actually help a lot with sun, and if you are at any outdoor activity (drinks, concert, etc) you might find yourself wanting a hat.

    Good luck and have fun!

My wife is from Dallas. Depending on what part of town you're in "Casual" there generally is like preppy Southern Tide, vineyard vines, oxfords and shorts, Columbia fishing shirts, etc.

There's a local shop called St Bernard Sports on Lovers lane that has a bit of everything (nicer boutique stuff as well as the aforementioned stuff). You can completely outfit yourself there and the hot sales girls will be happy to earn your commission. Ask for Nell.

It gets fucking hot here in Texas so summer is hard to balance comfort and appearance.
