The Thin Man films are excellent in this regard, and very charming in addition.

I also liked his suit in that movie where Jamie Fox plays a cabbie, but am blanking on the name.

Some of my favorites for fashion:

In The Mood For Love and 2046 (the clothes are very expressive)
Touch of Evil (each character has a distinct style mirroring his personality)
    Mystery Train
The Man Who Fell to Earth (Bowie pulls off some absurd outfits)
    Secretary
    Sweet and Lowdown
    The Quiet American
    Raging Bull
    Ray

Numerous films by Bertolucci, Scorcese, Tarantino, Godard, Kubrick, Lumet, Rohmer, Melville, the Polish brothers, the Coen brothers, Polanski, Lynch, Hitchcock...and LOADS of films from the mid 30s to the early 60s...

Also a movie which is sort of about clothing and it's obsessive acquisition, Tony Takitani

True, but TT is more about women's obsessive acquisition of clothes and men's obsessive aquisition of women.

As an aside, what are good movies for classic fall campus town ensembles? I was thinking of With Honors for some reason.

What's a pop-up? Is that a feature in Internet Explorer that we Firefox users are missing? [IMG]

To Catch a Thief - Some of the stuff only looks good on Cary Grant on the French Riveria, but he does look good. Grace Kelly looked good on everyone.

    Brideshead Revisited

Also, "The Cotton Club" with costumes by Milena Canonero and "Mo Better Blues" with costumes by Ruth Carter.

I use Firefox, and pop-ups still occur with ImageShack. Pure evil. I officially add Stay to this list. Tweed suits = win, tan plaid suit was something different than you see in a lot of recent movies, loved the cardigans, and even those short dress socks were kind of cool. Only thing I'd do differently is have his button down collar points fastened as per its namesake. That's the only part of the Browne influence I didn't really like.
