The Day the Earth Stood Still (remake)

For a classic sci-fi movie with a very contemporary theme, the remake was horrible.

I liked Nicolas Cage in Adaptation, and that's it.

The only good thing about Donnie Darko was "Sparkle Motion".

The Spirit. Fucking unwatchable and an insult to Will Eisner.

Oh, Lord, yes. This was a horrible movie.[IMG]

Please elaborate if you don't mind? I haven’t seen it in a few but I remember quite liking it, William H. Macy and John C. Reilly gave outstanding performances IMO.

It was convoluted, which I often find stimulating, but was boring as well - the story just wasn't interesting.

When does Nick Cage not suck? He is an awful actor.

Wait - I kind of liked that movie he did...I forget the name, what...- National Treasure or something? But not the original: the sequel where he kipnaps the president and gets his hands on the book of secrets and I kind of forgot the rest, but..wait. never mind. [IMG]

I'll probably get hated on because I'm sure it's some kind of cult favorite but my buddy was talking about this a while back so I watched it and my fiancee and I both didn't enjoy it very much. It had its moments but not my kind of humor.

    Hm.

    Donnie Darko

My old roomate made a huge deal about it and encouraged me to watch it. He really got my hopes up that it was going to be awesome. When it ended I just kinda stood up and said "oh ok" and he had this shit eating grin like I was going to have some sort of epiphany.

Yea that movie really isn't as good as all the fanfare surrounding it. Very disappointed with many of its details; the plot foundation is pretty interesting but it could've been executed a whole lot better.

    "The Wrestler".

I finally have seen it and it is a weak mess full of cliches. I compared it to Pink that won oscar for Shean Penn and realised how much more deserving SP was.

"Less Than Zero". Definitely the worst film of the 1980s, possibly the worst film of all time.

I agree, even if it didn't live up to the book (what a surprise!) - it's still far from the bottom.

"Beat Street" with Lorenzo Llamas, and "Teen Wolf Too" comes to mind.

I always cut some slack for 1980s "teen" movies, because the filmmakers were aiming low -- they were only trying to make an unpretentious, entertaining movie for younger viewers. "Less Than Zero", on the other hand, was a pretentious failure. (Subject to disagreement, of course).
