But she should make Mat happy, cause he's got pretty questionable standards when it comes to asian women. [IMG]

What is with Eric Roberts jokes? Is it a new phenomenon among folks whose movie viewrship started with Spiderman movies?
ER is a phenomenal actor when given the right material. Rent "The Pope of Greenwich Village".

P.S. His wooden syster can learn a thing or two about acting from him.

ok so just off a long haul flight, meaning crap movies aplenty. Watched Casino Royale again - which interestingly has the poisoning part cut for the plane version, but anyhow, I still like it. Watched the dreadful Will Ferrell flick Stranger than Fiction - nothing going for it at all. Just MRQE-ed it and see that it gets really good reviews...was I watching a different film??? Also watched Robin Williams get kinda elected to president in whatever that movie was called. (edit - Man Of The Year). Tried to be funny and poignant. Wasnt. Saw A Night at the Museum - mediocre. Also watched Hugh Jackman and Michael Caine in The Prestige, which felt like it took a long time to get to its twist-at-the-end and the payoff wasnt worth the wait...although admittedly I was pretty damn tired by this time. edit - btw, I am no real Scarlett fan, but she is smoking in period-wear, and looks amazing in The Presitige

I really liked this one, which is weird, because I'm usually not a huge Will Ferrell fan. I thought it was a great idea for a movie.
I liked The Prestige as well, and I thought that there was maybe TOO MUCH plot twisting thrown into the movie. I thought that if anything, they tried to cram too much in and made the movie too convoluted. I figured out the twist at the end about 30 minutes into the movie, and it still didn't ruin it for me. I think though, that if you go back and watch the movie again, you might see a bunch of extra stuff. The movie really isn't about magic at all. [IMG] Oh, and Scarlett DID look ridiculously hot.

Master and Commander is one of my favourite films. It just does everything right - i's one of the few films I've seen where I have to think really really hard about it's flaws. Mind you, if I read the books, I might have a different opinion of it. I hope there is a second movie in the works.

I liked the ending a lot. The British win... sort of [IMG]

Since we're on Master and Commander, one thing I've always wondered was how it was possible for cannonballs to bounce off wooden hulls. Now, I know the hull was supposed to be thicker than usual, but I remember them saying it was only an inch or so thicker. It just seems incredible that that one inch can stop a 10 pound iron ball going hundreds of miles an hour.

i liked that one, but i saw it in the the theater. it is the type of film that might not hold your attention well if you watch it at home.

i finally saw children of men and was, for the most part, disappointed. the cinematography was inspiring and i liked the story, but the dialogue and acting (likely due to the dialogue) were bad. they had the feel of a die hard or air force one.

also saw the pianist and stopped watching after about half an hour. i've seen enough holocaust films for a lifetime.

Eh... don't worry, Matador doesn't actually like movies. I think that we've determined over the course of like three years or something now that he actually only likes about three things he's ever seen.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation blows... but thats something I don't really need to tell anyone.

I am about to go watch the worst David Fincher movie ever.

No, not Madonna: The Immaculate Collection.
Not Ladies & Gentlemen, The Best Of George Michael.
Not even Video Hits: Paula Abdul.

    I'm talking about Alien 3.

Wing Commander - I was just talking about this the other day with my friend. Strong contender for worst movie of the past 20 years.

Good call, but then again, its a movie that stars both Freddie Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard. See: Scooby Doo 1 and 2, Summer Catch, and She's All That for reference

When I was 12 or 13 I watched ALL of she's all that hoping that Rachel what's-her-name would get naked in it.

I don't know why, I just thought she would.

    WHAT a fucking disappointment.

Top 7 worst (theatrical release) movies of the past 20 years according to Tokyo Slim:

7: Car 54: Where Are You? - IIRC it marks the big screen debut of Rosie O'Donnel. Nuff Said.

6: Dungeons And Dragons - When the LEAST annoying person in the movie is Marlon Wayans, you are in trouble.

5: Highlander 4: Endgame - When the star of the television show and the star of the movie team up to fight.... whoever, crap happens, and nobody cares.

4: Godzilla - Hank Azaria pissing himself is the highlight, Jean Reno plays... tough french guy who shoots guns, Puff Daddy raping Led Zepplin is the lowlight.

3: Rocky V - When the student turned enemy is named Tommy "The Machine" Gunn, and the climax of the movie is a 4 minute boring grapple fest of a street fight between a 50 year old Sly Stallone and a 'roid enraged ex-boxer with HIV, your movie is going to suck. Sorry.

2: Tie - The Blair Witch Project & Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2:
First off, the first movie sucked, the only thing it had going for it was that a lot of dumb people thought it was real and the thought that it was real freaked them out. After it came out that it wasn't "real", the sequel was pointless. It wasn't even a good horror movie. Suck.

1: Battlefield Earth - Can a movie REALLY be much worse than this? Seriously. I've sat through some crap in my life, as a matter of fact, I've seen movies "technically" worse than those on this list, but those movies generally have some redeeming qualities, like lots of gratuitous nudity, or excessive gore, or Christopher Walken. The movies on this list have NOTHING GOING FOR THEM, and Battlefield Earth is the movie that most completely and accurately sums up in my mind, the word "crap".
