I decided to grow out a mustache. Like Brandon Flowers of The Killers.

This will either be laughably horrible or ridiculously awesome. I will post pics soon.

your thoughts?

i kinda think this is somethign every guy should try once just to see if it works for you. it doesn't take all that long and you can always test it by growing out a beard for a week or two, and in the privacy of your own home shave it into a moustache... if it looks bad, just keep shaving and it's gone, that way if you aren't brave enough to rock the moustache as it grows in, you don't have too...

most guys end up looking like cops, when sporting a mustache.

in modern american society a moustache makes you look either gay, country, or both. i don't know why this is, as i've seen men in other countries who can pull it off without looking like hicks.

OTOH, i've seen men who look better with a beard than they do clean shaven, but i've never seen a man who looked better with a moustache -- not even chuck norris.

I think the ranks for making my stomach turn are:

1) goatee
2) soul patch
3) stache

something really bothers me about the goatee, maybe it is because I see so many people using it as a means to disguise thinning up top.

That's what I'm doing now, growing a beard then I'll trim it to a 'stache.

A hairy upper lip can conjure many unfortunate associations:

1970's cool guy (polyester leisure suit optional)
Tom of Finland
Washed out old pr0nstar
Cranky British Army drill sergeant
Deranged motorcycle policeman in a 1980's horror film

On the other hand, if it suits you and most importantly you feel comfortable with it, go for it!

Magnum P.I got the nicest "casual" moustache of all time.
Altough, when I'm reaching my late 40, I WILL get an classic english moustach, or else I will disapointed with myself.

Let's hope I will look handsome with mosutach...

Oh, two more associations I just remembered:

Mr Slave

and

Swinger (courtesy of Seinfeld)
