Given that our resident Gladhatter has now departed towards the land of the silk topper, has anyone else experience with this firm?Originally Posted by LabelKing
Despite the two Herbert Johnson bowlers I have gathering dust in my hallway in homage to Steed, I know nothing about hats. This might do better as a question on the LL, where the founder is very knowledgeable about such things. I know Flusser said that Motsch was the only company which actually lost prestige in being bought by Hermes. The Motsch shop on Georges V is now mostly a Hermes boutique; at least from what I can tell it hasn't been homogenized like the Lobb shop on rue Boissy d'Anglas. Flusser appeared to think Gelot (now atop Lanvin, I believe) was even better. I don't know. I used to have some Hermes catalogs from the early 1990s -- when you must have been about in kindergarten -- where the hats were Motsch and the shoes Lobb. Nowadays I wouldn't be surprised if they were all branded Hermes and swayed to the rather soporific Hermes attempts to stay with the season's styles.Originally Posted by RJman
You know as well as I do that I am no longer allowed there due to me being a brunette in their blonde town.Originally Posted by LabelKing
I had no idea. Perhaps you should ask on a more advanced forum?Originally Posted by RJman
