I presume one can make plastic buttons that more or less looks like MOP. So, my question is when you see a shirt, how can you be 100% sure that they are MOP. Is there an easy way of being sure?

If you touch them to the bottom of your lip they are much colder then plastic.

If you spray water over them, MOP will generate small rainbows in the backdrop. The thicker the MOP button, the bigger the rainbow. Plastic buttons don't do this.

If you tap it on your teeth, it makes a sharp sound. Plastic sounds dull. Do a search please.

Touch, they are hard and cool
Sound, they sound almost ceramic and not as dead as plastic
Sight, they look great

For example

MOP tinks on your teeth like glass
the cold method on the lips can back fire if the room is cold.
Also, if they are thin and not thick like the ones posted above, they will often have a darker mottled look on the bottom facing the fabric, this is part of the outer shell, I have never seen that on plastic.
BTW, none of the shirts you have offered on here have plastic buttons, so tink test the buttons on them!

Why do so many of the suggested methods involve sticking the button in your mouth? Ick.

Because the mouth is the most sensitive part of your body to temp (well, and your schwantz, but you dont want to rub your buttons on that when you are at a store trying items out).
