For years, I have resisted wearing these shoes unless absolutely necessary because the knots would come undone with irritating regularity throughout the day. I wore them today with reefs instead of grannys and did not have to touch them until I unlaced them to take them off this evening.

Thank you. The first half century of my life was an everlasting torment until I learned to start with left over right instead of right over left as stated earlier in this thread. BTW...no cuffs. Short legs although both of my feet do seem to reach the floor nicely!

Except for the occasionally required surgeries of late ... I wouldn't trade for any other time in my life. I've always liked "now."

Were you traveling for pleasure? At work a large paperclip will serve, in a pinch.

Kidding aside, "now" is very good for me as well, and no surgeries yet.

I haven't worn collar stays in about three years.

I stopped when I lost my clear metals ones in the laundry.

I'm 53, a little younger than RSS I believe. Not quite the Golden Years, but old enough to remember Ask Heloise. Apparently, she is still out there dispensing her patented Helpful Household Hints!

I did that for a year or two, but I take my jacket off sometimes during the day and then the collar looks silly. I went back to soft plastic stays a few months ago and have not looked back.

I'm in that camp as well
