1. I'd like to announce that animated avatars are now available again. You'll have to reload, but they are once more possible.

We've been doing a ton of work behind the scenes. The site load speed was already under 1/2 of what Huddler's was, on average, and we installed cloudflare, which means that the site should be even faster. A ton more will go on in the weeks and months to come, and some things will be more visibile, and some less.

    Cheers,

I've thankfully never seen anything by him, but every time I see Will Ferrel, and his noxious presence on anything, it's been awful.

The only reason I'm even dimly aware of his existence is that I caught bits and pieces of some disaster about coaching soccer that happened to be playing on a flight. He strikes me as a low-rent Chevy Chase wannabe.

I dislike both him and Jim Carrey. I'd add the "Ace Ventura" movies to the overrated list, along with the dreadful "Truman Show." (Was there ANYTHING in the movie that wasn't summed up in the trailer?)

Overrated movie: Being John Malkovich. Turned it off (twice) before slogging though to the ending the next day. Not sure why I bothered.

Now why is this?? I thought it to be supremely inventive.

Definitely agreed about "The Truman Show." There was an awful lot of hype over that one, but it was just inane from beginning to end. Thank goodness I didn't pay money to see it.

Watch his incredible performance in The Offence and then get back to me.

    koji

I have seen The Offence and I thought it was a great movie with a decent performance from Connery, but thats one out of maybe one hundred.

John Travolta is the worst to me. He coudln't deliver a decent line if his life depended on it.

really? I think Pitt is underrrated, at least as an actor. He's had a lot of good showings....Thelma Louise, Kalifornia, 7 Monkeys, Snatch, Johnny Suede, etc....he doesnt always do the typical "pretty boy" role and seems to like playing actual characters rather than one dimensional big star lead roles a la Julia Roberts.

I agree with this. Pitt has often tried to stretch himself in his roles. I'm not saying that he's the second coming of Lawrence Olivier, and he's certainly been in some duds, but I think he does have a genuine respect for his craft. His problem (his curse, if you will) is that he's so disgustingly good looking, it's hard for him to play any character without the audience just seeing Brad Pitt. Sometimes being a little more ordinary looking (see David Straitharn, John C. Reilly, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, etc.) works to the favor of an actor. No matter how good an actor Brad Pitt is, it would be kind of hard seeing him play Truman Capote.

I agree with Gericeaux on Being J M. In fact, all of the movies I've seen with Philip Kaufman involved have been great.

I can't put my finger on why Being John Malkovich didn't click for me. I wanted to like it. I all but twisted my wife's arm at the video store. I like John Cusack (slightly underrated one-trick pony IMHO). And it certainly was inventive. But, I had no sympathy for any of the characters or their situations, except maybe JM himself. It got tedious for me, except for the moment when JM goes into the portal. That was sheer brilliance, but not enough turn my opinion of the film.

Kurosawa's "Dreams" is the most overrated movie.

Julia Roberts is the most overrated actor.
