I just saw "Let the Right One In"

It's pretty damn disturbing. Especially the final scene.

I love The Vanishing. It's the film that turned me on to European cinema. The remake sucked even though it was also done by Sluizer as well.

Now hold on...

"Faces Of Death" as it originally existed in 1978/1979 was a "documentary" (to use the term loosely) that touched on actual filmed violence but the film makers later revealed that about 40% of it was fake/staged. 40 counties is a gross exaggeration that's loosely based on the total number of counties that banned and rebanned the film, but in most cases, only the unrated edition. It's only been fully banned in a handful of counties (Australia and New Zealand were two if I recall correctly)

You could find the rated copy of Faces of Death at Blockbuster. Re-releases and remakes exist but are even more fake than the original.

The movie called "Traces Of Death" from the early 1990's is far more outrageous and graphic because it is 100% real. This is the film that had Budd Dweyer's press conference suicide and actual video of war/suicide bomber attacks - really really graphic stuff, essentially as close to an actual snuff film that's ever been released.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I'm adding a new one to the disturbing list...

Blindness

Yes, there are obvious questions left open, plot holes, etc... but it's a pretty creepy movie. I found lots of similarities to George Romero's Dawn/Day/Land of the Dead films in that it's really less about the events that cause the "apocalypse" and more about our own humanity (or lack thereof) dealing with it.

Kudos to the director for not going for the obvious cheap-shots with the gang-**** scenes. I didn't need to see anything in graphic detail to be completely freaked out and uncomfortable.

I was iffy about the movie until they left the prison and went back out into the city - the supermarket scene and the rain scene sealed the deal for me - awesomely disturbing!
