Once you're in a monogamous relationship, people let themselves go. From fit to fat, from skirts to sweats, from shaving to stubble, from flushing to floaters - it all drifts towards ugliness.

That would be, "Beauty is the great casualty of monogamy."

Beauty injures monogamy. In this sense, one can interpret beauty to be an abstract stage where monogamy is a mere participant. Beauty could be youth, exceptional attraction, or overflowing breasts. These things tend to destroy monogamous relationships. Similarly, one can say divorce is a companion of beauty.

No. The "casualty" is the object. The acted-upon. So if you were making the statement "People in committed relationships let themselves go," you would say that "beauty is the casualty of monogamy" and not the other way around.
