Who has seen this movie?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mondovino

I just saw it (Netflix, streaming via Xbox) and it was AMAZING to say the least. It's basically about the homogenization of the taste of wine to appease a select few of highly influential critics (ex. Robert Parker) and how we are loosing a great deal of variety in what we're drinking.

B/c it's very one-sided and I have little knowledge about the wine world, has anyone who has seen this movie want to comment about it?

Here's some more Wiki links:

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't agree that this film was completely one-sided. The filmmakers explore the homogenization trend that most wine drinkers would admit is happening by interviewing many key players in the industry, including those (such as the Mondavis and Parker) who are often cited as being responsible.

It was interesting to hear from Parker that his favourite wines are French (Burgundies, IIRC) and reflective of the subleties of terroir, rather than the oak/fruit bombs that Australia is known for and that he's considered a proponent of. That may have been old news to true wine connoisseurs, but I'm just a casual wine drinker.

At any rate, I enjoyed the film and couldn't believe the success of the consultant who seemed to do nothing but tell his clients to micro-oxygÃ

Well worth watching, preferably with a cheap, micro-oxygenated, wood-chip adulterated New World red ...

YES!!!!!!!!! Aime Guibert and the other old french guy are classic! "Let's be clear: Wine is dead. Wine is dead, as are cheese and fruits." I'm gonna try to get a bottle of some wine he makes. Here's a link I found: http://winecase.wordpress.com/2007/0...s-gassac-1997/ Glad to see people enjoyed the movie as much as I did. EDIT: btw, does anyone know whee i can buy any of Daumas Gassac wines in LA? I just checked Bevmo and nothing was there.
