The thigh will shrink a little. If you do a cold soak, shrinkage will be minimised. The fit will be pretty snug on your thighs I imagine (not necessarily a bad thing).

Yes, the waist will stretch back out to 33". Maybe a smidge more over time (33.5?)

The pink inseam is not very noticeable at all. I have to point it out to people before they see it.

Take that measurement chart with a grain of salt. I got a pair of 0201's from there and everything was a size smaller then what they have listed. I got 33's and the measurements were what they say a 32 was.

Same for me. All the measurements were a size smaller than what BiG stated on my 0701's.

Same for me. All the measurements were a size smaller than what BiG stated on my 0701's.

    Doc and JBreen -

Had a back and forth with BiG about the sizing issue. I totally agree - these are smaller than stated measured size - and to anyone ordering a pair of these - do NOT go by either BiG or SelfEdge's sizing chart. Order true to tagged size or size up one.

For example, the 'measured' size on both websites states that a tagged 30 measures 31 actual waist. Not true. I wear measured 30's and 31's comfortably in every other pair of dry I own, and these were deadly tight.

Even measuring using BiG's technique, as requested, my 30's were a true to size 30 (and this is measuring straight across, laid flat, back hem to front hem, outside of material to outside (not inside of waist). BiG said, upon measuring themselves when I sent them back, that the jeans were true to their measuring standard. I didn't argue, and I did have BiG hem them, so other than a 'he said, she said' situation, I'm taking them back.

I think I'll have to sell these, especially given the expected shrinkage and lack of stretch. Them's the breaks though.

Other than that, these are beauties.

Or, as IIIrd said, size up TWO.

Put it this way, I went by BiG's measurements, aiming for a snug fit, and I had big purple bruises on my hips after 2 days. They were TTTIIIIIGGGHHHT. Fit like a dream 2-3 months on, however [IMG] (still snug/slim, no belt, no sagging).

Uh-oh I'm getting scared off of momos...

So are you all saying that all of BiG's measurements are 1 smaller than what they say? (i.e. even the thigh/knee/leg/rise measurements?)

Also, someone said that these will shrink by 2" in the waist if hot soaked. True?

201s, you can go true__ personally, i'd size 1 up, but that's just me.

So are you saying true or +1 from BiG's 'tagged size'? Or add 1 to BiG's tagged size then go true to that or +1... confusing, I know.

So the tag on them says the size you ordered, but all the measurements were off? SelfEdge sells these?

Now I'm thinking of getting the 201s in Tagged Size 32... just need some clarification thanks guys

^^^ They will only shrink an inch. They are partially sanforized. I don't know about all the measurements. I find it tough to measure the thigh and knee areas because everybody measures differently or at different parts but the waist was definitely an inch off. I think the way to go with Momo's is true to size and soak and dry them.

Love the denim on these jeans, but deciding which size to get now for the 201s.

I'm a true 32.5" waist and thigh measurement is usually ~12.25"... so I'm thinking tagged size 30 or 31 from BiG. However, the 31 has a 13" thigh; will it shrink much? Also, will the waist shrink from 33" down to 32" then stretch back out up to an inch again?

Is the pink inseam very noticeable? Thanks for the help guys,

.... So are you saying true or +1 from BiG's 'tagged size'? Or add 1 to BiG's tagged size then go true to that or +1... confusing, I know.
i think you're getting confused with the numbers cuz you're after a particular fit and the measurements does not correspond to what you hope it would [eg, waist & thigh proportion].

just to breakdown [with ref to previous post below] : 701's are similar to a s710 fit :: 201's are close to a 501 '47 cut__ in fact, measurements matched my SC40400N. so, you're clear with that , right?

since you picked the 201s, don't expect textbook slim fit on these. you can go slim-mer by going true= tagged W32. but, i suggest not to size down.

edit: the pink inseam topstitch is distinct and immediately recognizable... mosdef not noticeable in a bad way.

obviously not Doc__ but, i fitted some Momos @ BiG yesterday. you need to be careful in sizing them. the 701s are similar to the Samurai s710 fit and are sized like the Denime 66xx. i'm a true 33 and would not dare go true on these suckers__ i'd size +2 , but +1 is doable.

201s, you can go true__ personally, i'd size 1 up, but that's just me.

    Don't be. They're great.

    Yes.

Seems a bit liberal. Not that much. Just cold soak them if you don't want much shrinkage.

All I'm saying is, for example, I ordered size 32 from BiG which apparently has a 33" measured waist. It doesn't. It had a 32" measured waist. The tag in the jeans was the size I ordered - 32.

    No.

Thanks for enlightening me, didn't know they were similar to the '47 cut and I actually was considering the '47 from SelfEdge because of this fit pic which is the look I'm going for. Something not too slim but not too loose either. [IMG] Anyway, the main thing I'm confused about was the fact that a size 32 in the 201 would measure 33 instead of BiG's 34, but I guess that's okay since 33" will shrink down to 32" then stretch back an inch. Looks like I'm going with the tagged 32s! Thanks guys and wish me luck... hate having a nice pair of denim in front of me that can't be worn because of fit [IMG] EDIT: Forgot to say that I'm hemming these quite a bit to about 32-33" pre-soak since I'm somewhat short. So will that give me a huge leg opening that needs tapering?

Re- last item: I ordered the 30s, which the size chart said were 31 measured waist. When I measured (dry, not soaked/washed, etc.) the waist was 30" outside to outside or material. Even closer to a 29.75" waist. So yeah, tagged size is pretty close to actual waist size.

Doc, I'm still hoping to give these Momos a chance - and I'm willing to put up with some bruises to get there. Two questions for ya:

Is the 'snug' fit you describe (bruises and all) after soaking to get some shrinkage? Or dry?

How much stretch did you experience after the 2-3 months when you describe it as fitting like a dream'. 1" stretch? More?

My bad everyone, SelfEdge doesn't carry Momotaro. I had ordered something else from them the same week, and for some reason wasn't thinking straight in that sizing post.
