Washed and ironed my new shirt today. Please comment on the fit. I provided best fitting shirt I have plus some adjustments.

The cuffs are about half an inch wider than what I gave them

Looking a bit weird when I lift my arms up.
Attachment 53218

Thinking about:
-0.5" half pit to pit
-0.5" half waist
(I added 1" to the above 2 measurements from my best fitting shirt since they seem a bit tight, especially after lunch

)

+0.5" half hips since its a bit tight there
-1" length for my casual shirts.

I deliberately left my right cuff undone to show the length of the sleeves.

Anything else?
And the thing when I lift my arms up. The pulling from the pits are due to the shirt not hugging the side of the torso enough?

Thanks in advance gentlemen.

good first shirt
they fuse their cuffs. they will shrink! but now they look too large not sure why there is a second buttonon the cuff.

yoke is narrow yes, you get a clean fit, but it can't be comfortable. especially when you bend your arm in the 5th photo.

armhole is a bit high. if you reduce the chest,it will get tighter.

the collar is too high for your neck. iand are the buttons not white?

go to a one button band and drop the height at least 1/4"
you may also need to add 1/4" to the collar to allow for additional shrinkage
fusing in the collar looks boardy did you forget to put the stays back in

Thanks! Just went and checked the shirt again and lo and behold the arm holes are just about 0.4" smaller in half width than the other shirt! Will that somewhat fix the problem to do with the 6th pic?

Will that also allow me to take in a little bit around the chest since that little bit of extra fabric under the pits seem to annoy me. Or maybe I'm being a little too OCD.

I will +0.5" collar too next time.

Buttons are light blue. Since it's a test shirt I thought I might just play around try things a bit without going overboard: coloured button and hidden button placket.

i am not a fan of the colored buttons..

you are being OCD. the reason there is fabric under your arms is so you can move.
i wouold need to see the inside of the armhole to see how it was attached. this could be an issue, but I just think the shape of the armhole is off.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
