Does anyone have experience with MT shrinking? They say that there could be 2% shrinkage and seem to cut their shirts accordingly to adjust for that.

However, does anyone here wash their shirts in cold and hang dry and iron them when damp? Curious if this would avoid shrinking... and if so, then perhaps I could tell MT not to account for shrinking. Since the shirt I have now was .5" to 1" larger in a bunch of spots. Within their tolerances, especially if they shrunk a bit...

But thought only heat shrunk? So cold wash and hang dry... no shrinking?

Unless ironing the first few times could cause shrinkage?

If you wash it cold, hang to dry and iron while damp it will still shrink, but the process will take much longer. Like, 10 washes or something like that...

Thanks. I guess I'll just wash warm like recommended and still hang dry and iron since they say not to tumble dry.

How much do you guys see things usually shrink? They seemed to have gone .5-1" over on all the measurements, so I assume it'll shrink down about that much? I do hope the sleeves on my first shirt don't shrink anymore since they will get too short if they shrink... oh well.

But they say up to 2%... so for smaller measurements, that could be .25" and larger up to a bit over .5" probably.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
