I think a safari jacket of sorts would be useful for the holidays (if my flights stop getting cancelled, but that's another story), but I don't want to look like this:

The thing is, I like the belt, but all belted models are sooo retro if not empire-nostalgic, and all modern designs I found are beltless (e.g. the Drakes overshirt). Maybe I could try with my shirtmaker but I don't know that I trust them to modify their standard model (which is beltless but quite traditional). Any suggestions gratefully received.

This is the first thing I thought of. I don’t have one personally, though

^ Quite old school, no?

Eidos had a good one years ago, with a belt and no buttons, but it's no longer available

I think these things look better when they're very loose and sloppy. So not like how Prince Charles is wearing it there, or how most "sartorial" safari jackets look. Here's one from Holland & Holland:

Some other loose designs

No Man Walks Alone is carrying a version this season. It looks comfortably loose. Holland & Holland still sells theirs. I have one, although I don't wear it that often. This is the Ikiji at NMWA:

For travel, sometimes I use this Brooks England cycling jacket, but it has been discontinued.

Someone in the Eidos thread is selling one at the moment. I'm suuuper tempted but actually quite like the old-school look.

I never like the Eidos field jacket, buttoning always look wrong to me for some reason, if you want a modern take check out the yeossal ones (looks a bit more like sports coat), think they’re all MTO though

If you like the look of this, you can buy it here for a reasonable price. Moss colour.

Yeossal has a couple of versions which are available with a belt. I have one in oatmeal linen being made.

There's Eduardo de Simone Black Label too which look pretty great but I haven't been able to persuade myself to part with that kind of cash for a "fun" jacket: https://eduardodesimone.com/collections/jackets/products/a-type-safari-silk-jacket

Yeossal and Lopez Aragon have the best looking ones I've seen.

I like the Yeossal one, it looks a lot more like sports coat (lower button pointing, my main issue with the Eidos version)

kamakura has a few. The latter is more like a shirt though
