Yes, I am a bit of one. I am still not sure if things are settled with my new name as some of my posts elsewhere are not showing. I have emailed the helpdesk thing.

    Quick note regarding Brideshead/Mr Knightley.

I just had an email from him which reads as follows:

I still cannot post on SF properly. I have made four posts since re-joining and only one shows on the board.

It is quite possible that my replies to any PMs are also failing.

I have emailed the helpdesk at SF but I wonder if you would do me a favour in the meantime by just putting up a post to let people know my position.

Yes it went to a fancy sausage and mash type menu. Is it still open? I thought they closed it

The problem is a lot of Cafes have closed down,or they are taken over by People who do not know how to run a the British Cafe- the food is crap etc.I can remember Cafes where you could get the best Bubble(Stepney) or somewhere else where you got good Evening Meals(Bethnal Green). You would drive to get to these places. They no longer exist.Burger Bars and all that rubbish are there. now!!!!

Yeah I know that one,The Regency.I used to live near there.Funny story with a Mod connection.I rented a top floor flat in Pimlico/Victoria only to find a fella by the name of Weller living just below me.There was a fantastic Cafe a couple of blocks away near the Station that was run by a Spanish family.Everything was cooked to order. The best Liver and onions veneziana I ever had.Sadly the rents push most places out and they get yuppiefied. That and when the press get onto a decent place, the trendies get onto it and fcuk it up.Even the Bar Italia was supposedly having a Musical written about it by Dave Stewart, last I heard?I was down at The Cut last month on a nostalgic walk and the little greasy spoon was run (quite well ) by Thais. That's evolution for you.

Pie and mash shops seem to be thriving in Romford. I know of at least three there. If you went to the one in the high street then that is practically next door to Mintz and Davis (long since gone) where many of us bought our first Ben Shermans. Brideshead has mentioned the shop before on this site.

Now that was terrible. The parsley sauce tasted disgusting. Only went there once. Exmouth Market is full of exotic food stalls and trendy restaurants. The Greek place on the main road is fine for cheap lunches though - Kollossi Grill, Rosebury Avenue

Manze are all over the place One in Sutton. Not my thing. Better new pie and mash in Munster Road Fulham now. Strange houses there cost millions and this place sells pie and mash for a few quid a time.
