Absolutely loving this series, last night's episode showing the kids playing in adventure playgrounds (lots of concrete around!) and soapbox racing (we called them Dandies in Bristol) was a delight - and as for the East End hop pickers moving lock, stock and barrel to their huts in the fields of Kent where they decorated them with lino and papered the walls! Wonderful stuff.

... and not a crash hat or soft surface to be seen.

You broke your arm in the 'bad old days' - you got plastered down at the local hospital and carried on.

No one sought legal advice or sued - we just took it as part of growing up.

It was called 'being a kid.'

The HSE would be apoplectic with rage, now. Bless 'em. :satisfied:

Just received my Mikkel Ruud shirt. It's not bad but can't say it's something you couldn't buy at Matalan on a good day and for a whole lot of bunce cheaper.

Good fit, tapered so quite snug on a fat [email protected] like me and quite a deep collar which I'm not 100% sure about just yet.

    For £75 jury's out I'm afraid.[IMG]

    So Doc's have lost me!
I have only ever had English made Doc boot, but as my ever day boots have finally given up on me (I bought them in 94).
So I whent on the hunt for a new pair! I can't get any English made in my size in town or on Ebay.
I was told of one shop that may have some in my size UK 10 as I have worn that size since 1988.
They had one pair in UK 10 cherry so I grabbed them got home and did my old army trick filled them with hot water to break then in,
put them on and it was like a pair of wellies!
They are a size 10 UK but in reality there more like a 11 or 12?
So the next day I was wandering around the shops and saw a pair of cherry in size 9 UK and thought fuck it tried them on and guess what!
    They fit like a glove...!
I have never come across size discrepancy like this ? The first pair was made in Taiwan & the second pair in China.
I can't wait to get my hands on some more English boots.

We never wore Levi Jackets in London, Wearing Jean Jackets was a Northern thing, Regarding sewing the Levi Label on the outside chest .. it was a later 79/80s thing, that was copied off that 60s Reggae LP, I suppose the later Skinheads thought it was the norm in the 60s.

At risk of getting into the area of politics, which this forum is thankfully pretty free from, I will stick my neck out and say that Skrewdriver, whether pre- or post- their NF affiliation, have absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this thread, which is "Traditional Skinheads". They were a punk band from the late 70s and therefore are pretty far removed. Any discussion of their musical qualities or lack thereof, or of their singer's repugnant views, is irrelevant. Sorry if it seems like I'm jumping down your throat Yankmod, just would hate to see this forum derailed from talking about the legitimate subject...

As I said that LP in 69, cant remember its name?.. had four Skinheads on ...Think they was Northerners, one of them had the Levi Label on the Chest, So maybe it was more popular than i thought..but as i said we in London did not wear Levi Jackets, But the London Manchester United supporters did, I suppose to fit in with the Northerners.
I am also sure some Londoners wore a Levi Jacket in 69, But not Londoners that went to Football, To us in football firms the Jean Jacket was Northern Kit,:)
