Dont really know anything about Australian sharpies, But when you think of it their was mass immigration to Oz in the 50s/60, from the UK so they would have had a influence over Australian Teenagers, even today the majority of Australians come from Britain.

The Sharpies look to me like any other well dressedTeenager's of any Western Country. also does sharp mean well dressed ??

In my opinion British Skinheads and Australian Sharpies have no connection.

Someone I knew went to Oz in the 60s.he eventually got thrown out-but it was said he kick started the Skinhead Scene over there. He was about 18 Stone,so you could not miss him.

Remember Ferris Wheel, saw them" Live",would have been around `67.Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band, and,Jimmy James and the Vagabonds were always good on Stage.Saw both of them a few times(The Marquee mostly).Chris Farlowe I saw a couple of years ago and he could still sing.On as a Guest was Herbie Goins(a regular at the Flamingo in the 60s).Certainly had a Chat with him-He is in his 70s but still had all the facultys.
