Were these the Pubs where they originally had Go Go Girls dancing-behind the "Cage"?
This photo of Kings Road by Royal Avenue can be no older than 73, probably 74. Because the two arms of Royal Avenue (east and west of those benches) that used to give out on to Kings Road have already been closed off and pedestrianised, and that happened in 73.
Not in Harrow. Don't know about elsewhere.
My Wife danced Go Go in the Birdcage Pub in Columbia Road, Bethnal Green(were these part of the same Chain as the one in Chelsea?).She was 17,so that would have made it 1971.
In fact it was in Bethnal Green Road. She did a lot of Dancig around that Area.
I remember them very well. They were fairly understated I recall, with matt leather as you say and I am not sure if they had same-colour laces. I recall them in brown. I never got round to buying a pair - like many other things.....
Can't find any pics.
I remember Ox blood with yellow laces, Like you John i never had a pair, and hardly ever seeing anyone else wearing them.
Monkey boots were worn here, pre-skin. I think the fella, extreme right is wearing them, this is '67. (The idea was probably pinched from another mob )
I follow this great thread since last year. Recent I found some pics in the web I want to share. I have read all pages of the thread, but I can’t remember to see the pics below.
But next up, a link to an interesting interview with an ex skinhead girl:
I am unsure if this pic from the late sixties / early seventies
