Yes nice bit of kit you got there Sambarock,
There were Coats at the beginning of Skinhead.Sheepskins came into Fashion around `67`68(I bought my first one then),Crombies came in and took over the Scene.Sheepskins then made a reappearance around `69/`70.I bought another then. Can you remember the Long Haired Sheepskins around `70/`71,Roy?Saw one in one of the very early 70s Film-cannot remember the bloody Film though!
This thread will drive me f*cking barmy! I haven't had any notifications of new posts since page 287!!!! GAH!
Just a nod to this point about cords. They were big 'up North' in '67 '68 but a bit less so when I arrived in London in '68. having said that, yes they were worn. I seem to remember having a pair the same coliur as the ones above, and also a black pair.
Now to try and catch up with everything else that has been posted...
To be honest, Roy, my memory isn't what it once was either!
That was more-or-less how it was. Even someone like me who had some strong personal political views didn't really talk about it much when I was with my mates. It just didn't seem relevant.
I'm probably too late for that, so motion supported anyway.
I seem to remember a blue and green check shirt by one of the cheap brands (Brutus/Jaytex) which actually loked good... but on a skinhead girl. No offence to any bloke who wore one.
He looks half asleep to me.
Is that the bruv, Bunters?
Disregard my last post...
Bunty, who is this?
(sorry, I'm only up to p295)
Roy, if only I could find the pics of me in the 1970s...
Ride a White Swan nothing!
I wonder if he remembers the skinhead at Goldsmiths College who gave the band a load of style tips?
Now I'm looking at this and seeing two guys in their shirt sleeves with braces over their shirts - no problem. I'm seeing one guy in a black sweater; you can't see his braces but I'll lay you evens they're under the sweater. I see one guy in a brown top of some description, but it's impossible to say whether his braces are over the top of it or not - it could be sharp shadow from the creases in his clothes. So where's anyone getting 'all 4' from?
I recall if we had seen anyone with braces over a sweater, we would have yelled out 'Gumby Man!" at him.
I'm going to revise what I just said. The guy with the black top could have them over his sweater, which is bloody unusual. Mind you, he could be winding the camera crew up. We did a lot of that!
