THE BOOK

I'm hellishly busy with other work at the moment, but I have started to do something with "The Book" again. Problems included a number of uncorrected errors needing fixed and my not having an editing facility myself for pdf files, waiting for permission to use certain photos, and not having figured out some problems with uploading to Amazon. These problems haven't gone away as yet, but I am inching forward.

The end product is not going to be as good as I had hoped, but at least it should be something. No promises as yet about when it will be finished. Or even "if." I might hit further snags. But at least it's now on my desktop, metaphorically speaking.

Blimey is the 'Book' still a thing? Something of a 'labour of love'? Couldn't you hand it over to someone, to get it published. Why isn't it going to be as good as you expected? The source material and photos must be special. Now becoming a historic document with many of the 'originals' (who may have bought the book) dead or dying.

A possibility. Do you know how long he backed them? 'My Babe' is a very old recording, and many records by singers were cut using 'house bands' rather than a regular team.
I cant find alot of info on dates of specific band members, but I saw he was with the duo for 30 years and was thier bandleader and manager.

Yes, it's still a thing.

However, the number of photos we can use has been cut by more than half, due to copyright issues, and there are layout problems (which I am dealing with bit by bit). The major stumbling block was that the publisher pulled out - their business is now dormant anyway, I believe. Sh1t happens.

To be perfectly truthful, I don't think another publisher would take it. I hope to be able to self-publish later this year, if at all possible.

New podcast!

Twisted Wheel Special, with a bit of a tribute to Sam & Dave and Brenton Wood. Apologies on behalf of Clyde, who confused Sam Moore with Dave Prater. Can't be helped now!

I might steal a track or two for my own show hehe

On the subject of Northern Soul, I booked a MOTH club NS night and can't wait for it! My first proper Northern Soul night!

Looks sharp, and great color whistle! Nice deets with the pick stitching, etc.
I definitely prefer midnight blue to black, pretty much not really wearing black if I can help it.
Thanks - I’ve come to the same conclusion.
There was a time when I had loads of black in my wardrobe and these days I have very little.
I have the same suit in black which comes out very rarely these days. I have a hard time telling the difference between black and midnight blue but the midnight still has a ‘depth’ to it that makes it look better. Will probably do a blog post about this one day!

Yeah, midnight blue definitely has more of a depth than black. Especially during the day, black and liquid washed out. At night time, midnight blue looks even darker than black.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
