Monkey boots are awesome. They look better and are probably sturdier than modern Docs too. I wish there was a slightly more upmarket version of the dark burgundy/brown Grafters monkey boot with the same narrow last and the same ‘tractor’ soles, but made of supple, better quality leather.

To be honest bela as I’m getting older I agree with you about the monkey boots ,I bought a cheap pair from the army and navy stores and they crippled me , took them to a charity shop

sizeing up is a good idea with them.

The solovair and mod shoes ones would look better with the tractor sole then they would look like the old zuch boots.

The new Solovair monkey boots in burgundy rather than oxblood are tempting, even if they don't have all the details I'd like.

I have a pair of those. It's really nice, supple full grain leather (not the typical plastic-y DM/Solovair leather). The sole is not airwair, but a composite sole made with the airwair tread. Really comfortable and looks great

That's another thing - I never saw them in burgundy back in the day. Often black but more often brown.
When I brought mine they were described as wine, definitely brown. Funniest wine shade I’ve ever seen! Although behind laces a the strip is burgundy. I also have a pair in black.

Took an age to break-in, but are now very comfy.(finally)
Also definitely not 'wine' either.

Yes, the Grafters boots are definitely more brown than wine - I'm glad you're all saying that, turns out I'm not colour blind after all. I do polish them with burgundy, though...

I reckon it's only a matter of time until I give the Solovair ones a try.
