    I wore one of these things when I was about 32, and felt too old for it then.

    Funny, though, I don't feel too old for styles I wore when I was 16-20!

    My gran wore one when I was a kid , which kinda puts he off .

    I knew an evangelical social worker - a Londoner called Sylvia Sands - who at one time helped run a kind of 'neutral turf' drop-in centre in NI during the 'Troubles'. At least one of the Protestant 'Tartan Gang' lads used to drop in. Along with wearing tartan scarves, they were also to be seen in double denim. She remembers how he used to relax in her company, with his boots up. "Out there I'm denim blue," he said, "but in here I'm golden!"
